There are three ways to submit a locate notice request:

If you are a homeowner doing an occasional digging project, utilize our homeowner ticket form.

If you regularly submit locate requests, please use the portal which is more practical for excavators with multiple tickets.

Homeowner or Infrequent Users:

When planning an excavation project, dial 811 or submit a locate request online 3 full working days before you plan to start your work. We will notify our member utilities, they will then, send professional locators out to mark the approximate location of their utility facility lines. Then you can dig confidently, knowing the utilities will not be disturbed. The call or web notice is simple, free and it’s the law!  Know what’s below, call 811 before you dig! Or click the link to the left to request a locate online. Notices submitted online before 5pm on business days will be processed the same day.  ** Please note Only Normal and Update notice locates maybe entered on the web. If any other notice type such as, Emergency, Design, or No Show is needed, please contact the call center at 811 or outside South Carolina at (888) 721-7877.

Professional Excavator:

Your time is valuable, the portal allows you to processes the locate notice via a webpage after you create a sign in, your email address will be your username when you log into the portal.  There is an interactive map where you can process your exact work location. Notices submitted in the portal before 5pm on business days will be processed the same day.

Level 3 Portal Users:

Each of us are busy and forgetful at times, but when it comes to locate requests time is extremely important! Locates have to be processed, facilities must be located, and crews have to be scheduled before excavating can begin. The Level 3 Application is for excavators/companies who need non emergency locate notices on daily basis and would like to have to capability to electronically process the requests from their location with the use of a computer and Internet connection. These certain types of locate notices can be processed 24/7, any hour of the day, any day of the week, including the weekends, holidays, however the 3 full working days notice does not include the day the notice is entered and also excludes weekends and/or any holiday observed by South Carolina 811. When becoming an approved Level 3 User, a locate number is automatically assigned and transmitted directly to the South Carolina 811 members listed on the locate notice.
